We spent 8 days at the Nushagak River Fishing Lodge from August 25 to September 2, 2008 fishing for silvers and rainbows. Everything about the trip exceeded our expectations - fishing, guide service, boats, food, weather, fishing gear and accommodations. My fishing buddy and I each caught between 50 and 100 silvers every day. The silvers were fresh and had lots of fight. The fly rods and spin gear were in good condition and Rick worked very hard to keep us happy. He was very knowledgeable and always had another trick up his sleeve if the fishing slowed up a bit and tried different locations, salmon egg cures, etc.. We took one day and fished on a feeder stream with a jet boat fishing for rainbows and silvers. I'd highly recommend it for the fishing, scenery and wildlife.

The cabins and the dining hall was new, clean and very comfortable. The meals were excellent tasting and plentiful. Rick's staff cooked anything you wanted. It was moose season when we were there too and I enjoyed hearing the moose hunt stories. In my 22 years of outpost fishing throughout Canada and the U.S., this was one of my best trips ever. The trip is well priced and provides a lot of value for the money. I will not go anywhere else for silvers in Alaska.

Meet your Guide - Rick Murphy

Hello my name is Rick Murphy I am part owner and operator of Nushagak River Fishing Lodge in Bristol Bay. I have lived in Dillingham, Alaska for the past 36 years. I've been fishing Bristol Bay and hunting here all my life so I know my way around very well. I have been in the commercial fisheries business for 20 years and five years in the restaurant business with my father. Now am in the sports fishing business and have built this beautiful lodge and am ready to share this Alaskan experience with all of you. We have a very nice lodge right on the bank of the Nushagak River home to the largest king salmon run in the state. We also have a large run of silvers in excess of 100,000 in the river we can also catch rainbow trout northern pike. We have the only all wood construction fully guided lodge on the river. We have one four bedroom cabin and one duplex so we can take 8 to 12 people at a time. We use 22 foot Fish-Rite boats with four anglers per boat we use G- Loomis rods and Shimano reels we provide all meals (home cooked),be ready to gain some weight as the food is good and there is lots of it and don't forget the fresh baked goodies every day.
